Healed by Morning

“Dr. Barrett writes straight from the heart in this inspirational book. His words raise our awareness of the nurturing that our bodies need from us, so that we may enjoy the quality of life that we so often seek through other, more artificial means.”

“Through accounts of his own experiences, testimonials from patients and quotes from the Bible, Dr. Barrett inspires us to be mindful of how our bodies are meant to be treated.”

“He also gives us a wake up call on how badly we abuse our bodies through prescription drugs, unhealthy diets and the inevitable, unnecessary surgeries that follow.”

“Encouraging the reader to adopt a far-reaching level of consciousness about health and healing, Dr. Barrett motivates us to provide a healthy lifestyle for ourselves and our loved ones. He encourages us to bridge the gap between race, social status and religious beliefs so as to take responsibility for each other’s health and healing.”

“We learn that “alternative” methods of well-being, based on the body’s innate ability to heal itself through natural means, is not new. It is centuries old. Its success has been proven time and time again. It is a belief system that must replace the pill popping, symptom—masking one mankind has accepted.”

“Dr. Barrett gives us more than good cause to oppose our society’s quick-fix mentality. His message empowers us with logical, yet soul stirring reasons to resist the current “norm”—and to pass the word on.”

“I hope that Dr. Barrett will follow up with more writings. His conviction is contagious…a healthy addiction by today’s standards.”

Chapter 2 Healed by Morning

We have all heard statements like..."Just sleep on it and everything will be better in the morning".  In truth, much healing does take place as the body rests.  The body needs time to heal and recuperate through sleep.  It is a time of rebuilding and regenerating.  Joe's words, "Healed by Morning", were so wonderfully profound because they conjure up many different thoughts.  Is it realistic to believe we can actually be Healed by Morning?  Or is this just something we want because we live in such an impatient and hurried world with everything instant, pop up, quick fix, done in under 60 seconds?

I personally believe many things can be Healed by Morning depending upon how much effort we put into it and how much faith we have in it actually happening.

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see".

~Hebrews 11:1

Of course, there is the other question of which morning will we be healed by.  All things are possible with God if we truly have faith and trust.  But, how many of us actually do?  I am talking about the absolute certainty, not a moments doubt or hesitation kind of faith.  The kind of faith Indiana Jones displayed in the movie, "The Last Crusade".  Indiana Jones was searching for the Holy Grail, the chalice Christ used at the Last Supper.  As he had outsmarted every trap laid for him, he came to a chasm with no apparent way across.  At this point, no amount of logical thinking or intelligence could handle the obstacle before him.  He remembered the words, which had earlier been told to him.  He must have a leap of faith.

At this point, all that was left was to have an unshakable faith in God, and trust that He would carry him through to success.  Indiana Jones took one big step in faith, literally stepping out over the edge into what appeared to be a bottomless chasm.  As he did so, he landed on a natural stone bridge that could not be seen from his previous position.  We may not always be able to see.  The things that are true and real may not yet be visible to us.  Our problems, life or bad health may seem like a bottomless chasm.  But if we walk in faith, God will provide all our needs to be met!  We must believe!

If our faith and belief were so unwaving, so unshakably strong that we could be healed, or that we could not even get sick, then I do not believe any disease or sickness could ever touch us or have power over us.  We would be immune or impenetrable from foreign invaders.  We would achieve a higher state of existence.  We would achieve ultimate health and wellness.

Unfortunately, most of us do not have this higher order of thinking, this ultimate state of consciousness.  So we are left to proclaim a statement or prayer to be healed.  Or merely express a hope or wish without any real substance behind it.  Like we would hope to win the lottery.  But again, can't we or shouldn't we be able to be healed rapidly?

I believe that if our faith was so strong and without any Achilles heel, that it could not be shattered, we could heal rapidly.  A faith so strong, that when prayer is put out to God for healing, we could expect to be healed.  But our faith and focus has to be tremendously strong and intact.  There is no room for even a moment's worth of doubt because that will cause the whole thing to crumble.  Sickness feeds on doubt.  After all, we read about it time and again in the Bible.  Stories of faith and doubt and their consequences.

Rememer what happened to Peter in the story of Jesus walking on the water?  Peter wanted to join Jesus on the water.  "He got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me'!  Immediately, Jesus reached out His hand and caught him, 'You of little faith', He said, 'Why did you doubt?'"  Peter could have actually walked on that water and been safe through Jesus' power and love, had he strong enough faith, faith in Jesus and faith in his own innate ability.

So too can it be for us, that if we send up a prayer to God, we need to have faith that He will come to our aid.  Maybe this aid will not be as direct as we would like it.  Perhaps we will be sent to travel down a certain road for healing or asked to participate in our own healing through the use of herbs or other means.  Maybe the healing will come in God's time and not ours.

Maybe God is just waiting for our faith to be so incredibly strong that it is almost automatic like our lungs taking a breath of air.  We do not think about, question or doubt it.  It just happens!  As a pure instinctual reflex!  Perhaps, the healing will come by morning, but maybe not tomorrow morning.  Perhaps, the one after, or the one after that.

So this book, "Healed by Morning", can be many things to many readers.  But, hopefully, with quotes from scripture and positive affirmations, logic, facts and truth, it will lead you down a road of natural healing, and bring about an awareness of what God wants of you and your responsibility toward your own healing and the healing of others.

"For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you". ~Proverbs 2:10-11
